1. Intro
These short videos give you the basic idea of Ocean Providence!
True Father said, that the Ocean is "a central point" and "the fastest way" for world unification. Find out why He said this!!
"The oceans can become a central point for bringing the world together." (As a Peace-loving Global Citizen, Ch. 7)
"This is the fastest way to bring people and nations together." (God’s Will and the Ocean, Ch.11 August 1985)
True Father said, that the starvation (food problem) is "the most pressing problem" for humanity. Find out why it is so urgent and devastating!
"When I look at the world situation, I feel that securing sufficient food supplies is the most pressing problem. Solving the food crisis cannot be put off for even a moment. " (As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen, Chapter 7)
2. Reading the Words!
Throughout your study of Ocean Providence, we recommend the following readings!
Start with "As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen"
You may be surprised how much True Father spoke about Ocean Providence (and related providence of solving poverty, starvation, and inequality around the world) in the autobiography.
Find out how True Father began the Ocean Providence in 1963, and that He decided to enter the marine industries to build a global economic foundation for the Unification Movement while He traveled the world for the first time in 1965.
"Development of the Oceanic Realm"
True Father, after 20 years (1974~1994) of developing the Ocean Providence in the United States, gathered 4,000 members from around the world on August 1st, 1994 at Belvedere International Training Center, Tarrytown, New York. Here, True Parents spoke about the Grand Plan to solve the global starvation problem.
This book explains that the goal of Ocean Providence was equalization of the world, which connects to the path of World Unification. Find out how True Parents started the World Unification with North & South America Unification!
This book is a collection of speeches from the 1970s, 1980s, and early 1990s, about building Ocean Providence in the United States. Here we can learn True Father's hope, passion, efforts, and sometime disappointments in the path to establish the Ocean Church within our movement.
This book is a collection of quotes related to Ocean Providence and the Pacific Rim Era. It outlines how the centers of civilization moved in human history through Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, and that this is the era of the Pacific Rim.
True Father speaks of many visions of fish farming and even highways to share the marine resources to all humankind.

5. Understand the History!
How much did True Father invest in the ocean? "You cannot imagine."
"I saw that the key to future food problems lies in the ocean and have endeavored to develop a wide range of oceanic businesses from nothing. I spent more time in the ocean than anyone else, thinking on the ocean, praying on the ocean, and struggled on the ocean. How much time and effort did I invest? You cannot imagine it."

True Father invested immeasurable time on the ocean... In order to understand someone's heart, we must first understand his/her history. True Father revealed God's sorrowful Heart by understanding the History of the Providence of Restoration. We must also understand the history of the providence - what True Parents had planned and have accomplished, and we had failed - in order to understand their Hearts! Let us study their History on the Ocean!
6. Read the Testimonies!
Sometimes, listening to other people's testimonies can give us a glimpse of True Father's seriousness and passion for the providence. Here are some of the testimonies and books we recommend!
This is a book written by Allan Hokanson, who was the captain of New Hope, the boat0 True Father used to fish Giant Tunas off the coast of Boston from the 1970's.
This is an autobiography of Henry Masters, who was the lead architect of the One Hope boat True Father passionately spoke about in many of His speeches.
The Story of Satan's Natural Surrender at the Holy Grounds of Nabileque and Salobra
This is a testimony of Peter Paulo Alves Pinheiro, a Brazilian brother who drove the boat while True Father fished in the waters of Brazil and Paraguay.
The Spiritual Providence of Pantanal
In this second testimony of Peter Paulo Alves Pinheiro, we can start to see the spiritual side of True Father's fishing and the significance of the boats He passionately built.

In order to continue the Ocean Providence and let the new generations inherit the work, let's document and write testimonies of our experiences on the ocean with our True Parents!
7. Consider Local Programs!
True Father had told us that we all must participate in the ocean providence!
"As you know, only one third of the surface of the globe is land; two thirds are ocean. Therefore, without knowing the ocean we can never have dominion over the entire globe. So every one of you, every member of the Unification Church, is required to take a basic training in Ocean Church, including navigation, repairing and so forth." (God’s Will and the Ocean, Ch. 14 Leaders' Conference August 26, 1983)
"The ocean is our foundation for the future and we will all participate in some way or another in the ocean providence." (God’s Will and the Ocean, Chapter 11, True Parents and Indemnity)
There are various ways to raise awareness about the Ocean Providence to our youth! The most basic method is to study the HDH materials with the youths! Secondly, go out to fishing together with the youths and your family! Here are other ideas that you might consider!
A great example is the National Ocean Challenge Program in Kodiak, Alaska.
Let the youths follow the tradition of ocean training that True Father started in Gloucester, MA, in 1981 with Good Go's!
This program is designed as a 4-day program for youth to learn about Ocean Providence!
There are tons of insightful presentations, videos, and activity resources in this page to stir up the interest of the youths, as well as give them a chance to understand True Parents better!
The Ocean Family Festival is a tradition that Ocean Church in NJ started in the 1990s. It is a community festival open to local public where there are games, charter boat, food, demonstrations, and short presentations... all to involve the local youth and community to a healthy fishing hobby culture!
True Father envisioned opening fishing tournaments all around the world to open the Oceanic Age (teaching fishing to everyone, creating fishing tourism culture, connecting the rich to poor nations) centering on the blessed families. Why don't we start to create a global network of fishing tournaments starting from your local community?
There are many sources of stress for youth this day and age... the activity of fishing and learning about the Ocean Providence is definitely a way we can help the youth navigate the world and find a new purpose in their life of following True Parents!
